Avalanche Lake, At a distance of 26 kilometres from Ooty, the Avalanche Lake in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu is a famous tourist spot. Travel 28 kms from Ooty town past the Emerald Lake surrounded by undisturbed forest and you have reached Avalanche.

Kalhatti Waterfalls Ooty are one of those places, where you feel that God is an architect. With the majestic back drop of the Ghats the waterfalls are a sight to see. Located at about 15 kilometers from Ooty, the waterfalls can be reached after a two mile trek from the Kalahatti village. It is fabled that Saint Agastya used to live in these parts during his time.

Where the Gudalur is located 51 km on the west of Ooty and the Needle Rock viewpoint is about 8 km from Gudalur on the way of Gudalur-Ooty National Highway-67. One Kilo metre trek is required to reach this view point from the main road.

As it is a highly forested area, there is a high probability of wild animals to come out on the prowl after sunset. The peak is characterized by a huge rock in the shape of a cone hence the name Needle View Hill Point.

Pykara is river 19 kilometres from Ooty in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu with a village by the same name nearby. The Pykara River is considered very sacred by the Todas. It rises at Mukurthi peak, flows northwards, and then turns to the west after reaching the edge of the plateau. The river flows through Murkurti, Pykara and Glenmorgan dams, and forms part of an important hydro-electric power project. The river flows over a series of waterfalls, the last two of 55 metres and 61 metres being known as Pykara Falls. The falls are approximately 6 kilometres from the bridge on the main road. There is a forest rest house at Pykara. A boat house on the Pykara reservoir is an added attraction for tourists. Pykara boasts well-protected, fenced sholas, Toda settlements, large grassy meadows and good wildlife habitat. The Pykara Dam, falls and reservoir attract many tourists.

Nature calls the strong hearted for a walk in the jungle. Enter at your own risk is all that can be said. There is no place for the weak and the scared in Parson's valley. If you want to describe the place in a single word, the place is WILD. You need permission from the Forest Department to visit Parson's valley as it is a reserved forest.

The place is on the Ooty Mysore road and can be entered either from the Ooty direction or the Mysore direction. Ooty direction is the more preferred and safer. The forest inhabits tigers and panthers, so be sure to stay in your designated path and not to be over adventurous and push your limits.

At a distance of 1 km from Adams Fountain and 3 km from Ooty Railway Station, the Stone House is an old bungalow in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. It is one of the most significant and ancient monuments of the town and among the prime places to visit as part of Ooty Packages.

The Stone House is the very first bungalow of Ooty built by John Sullivan, then Collector of Coimbatore in 1822. It marks the beginning of the modernization of the city, as its facade is reminiscent of a colonial structure. The mansion is called the stone house because it is completely made of stones. The Toda tribes call the Stone House as Kal Bangala. The word 'Kal' means stone and 'Bangala' means mansion. It is located in an extremely picturesque location, and offers beautiful views of the lush greenery all around, including views of the mountains that stand sentinel around it.

Toda Village is located about 15 kms away from Ooty and should not be missed during your Ooty Tour. You can visit the village and learn about the culture, food. There are a few Toda huts on the hills above the Botanical Garden, where Todas still dwell. There are other Toda settlements in the area, notably Kandal Mund near Old Ooty. Although many Toda have abandoned their traditional distinctive huts for concrete houses, a movement is now afoot to build tradition barrel-vaulted huts, and during the last decade forty new huts have been built and many Toda sacred dairies renovated.

The 46km train journey is from Mettupalayam, which is 330m above the sea level, to Ooty, which is situated 2200m above the sea level. The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in) metre gauge railway in Tamil Nadu, India, built by the British in 1908. The railway is operated by the Southern Railway and is the only rack railway in India. There are first class and second class coaches to choose from.

At a distance of 1 km from Adams Fountain and 2 km from Ooty Railway Station, St. Stephen's Church is an Anglican church situated near the Collectors office in Udhagamandalam, Tamil Nadu. The St. Stephen's Church, Ooty is one of the architectural marvels that the British left for us. The foundation stone of the church was laid down by Stephen Rumbold Lushington, the Governor of Madras in 1829 and was opened to the public in 1831. Captain John James Underwood was in charge of the construction and designing of the entire church. The date of the commencement of construction was chosen to coincide with the birthday of King George IV. It would be interesting to note that the timber that was used in the construction process was brought from Tipu Sultan's Palace after the British had successfully defeated him in the Mysore War. Following the independence of the country, the church came under the CSI or the Church of South India.

The fabulous pale-yellow building of the St Stephen's Church bears testimony to the marvels of British architecture that existed during colonial times. This grandeur is also reflected in the painting of 'The Last Supper' that can be found in the Church. The Church holds within its premises an aesthetic garden with various flowers that adds more beauty and charm and further pacifies the environment, allowing you some time with nature. The church also houses a cemetery in its backyard.
